Sam and Gerry are the proud new faces behind Sea Thrift Coffee, opened in December 2025 on the Barton on Sea cliff top. Both recently retired to the coast from South West London, they’ve quickly discovered that retirement was only the beginning of their next great adventure.

With a shared passion for community, quality, and creativity, Sam and Gerry are taking over from Jason, the founder of Oslar’s Coffee House. Jason has generously passed on his expertise in artisan coffee making, ensuring that Sea Thrift Coffee continues the tradition of excellence while bringing fresh energy and ideas to the space.

For Gerry, Barton on Sea already feels like home. Having lived here 30 years ago, she knows the area well and is excited to reconnect with the community and its stunning coastal setting. Together, Sam and Gerry are blending their love for people, local life, and great coffee into a welcoming hub where everyone can feel at ease.
Sea Thrift Coffee is more than just a coffee shop—it will be a place to gather, share stories, and enjoy ethically sourced coffee and treats with the sea close by. Sam and Gerry are committed to building on Jason’s legacy while creating something uniquely theirs: a vibrant, inclusive space that celebrates Barton’s charm and spirit.

They look forward to serving outstanding coffee, teas and Matcha Chai with whatever milk or milk substitute you like, hot or cold, alongside locally produced cakes.

As they like to say:

“We may have retired, but we’re #NoLongerRetired—this is just the beginning.”
